Tower of Silence of Yazd (Dakhmeh-ye Zartoshtiyun)
Another significant place to Zoroastrian pilgrims is Dakhmeh-ye Zartoshtiyun where two stone hollow structures stand on hills near the city. Take a taxi to find out more about the burial ritual and customs of Zoroastrians in this strange and mysterious place. You can reach the tower through the stairway and reach the stones that the Zoroastrians used to place their bodies on them to be defleshed by birds. There’s a bone well inwards where the defleshed bones were put to turn into soil. This place has been the city of the dead for centuries and it is worth spending a whole evening in this place.
