Visa-free Stay For Russian Tourists Joining Iran Tours

Ali-Asghar Mounesan, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism stated Iran and Russia have taken measures concerning the Visa Exemption Arrangements between both countries. According to this arrangement which was signed on March 28, 2017 group trips between Iran and Russia were granted a visa-free stay of up to 15 days. Individual travelers need visas except for people who travel within tours in groups of at least 5 people and a maximum of 50 people don’t need visas.

This Agreement has begun on the execution date of 22 of October 2020. He also stated direct flight is definitely one of the most important elements for expanding international tourism, therefore flights between the two countries will increase firmly. At this moment direct flights from Russia to Iran are operated by Mahan Airlines, but in the future other parties, will operate flights between both countries.

Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, has stated that the visa agreement may significantly increase the tourist flows between both countries. Also, short travel time and Russia as a desirable tourist destination for Iranians will surge the flow of tourists. On the other side the climatic diversity of Iran, charming islands and coasts of Iran, deserts, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and forests of Iran are another good point that will ease travel.
