The environment if the city and the extant conditions of living in the middle of deserts have made people come up with a new idea due to the water irrigation system. Qanats (or Kariz) are an ancient Persian creation to manage water irrigation in such cities like Yazd and among many of them, Zarch is a famous one dating back to Pre-Islamic Era. There’s a gallery to this place and its Pāyāb where you can see the well shafts and understand the interesting system of qanats. This qanat, running for kilometers along the city, is an emblem of cultural traditions in the arid areas of the great Persia.
